Affiliate Marketing: The Key To Online Marketing

The Secret Behind Popularity Of Online Shopping: Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing has it's literal meaning to the interrelationships that exist amongst the three parties, namely, the advertiser, the publisher and the consumer. Getting deeper into it, advertiser is the one who comes up with a unique idea of an advertisement or an ad. It could be a company that sells products like electronics, airline tickets, clothes, etc. It could even be an insurance company selling it's insurance policies. The second component to it, namely the publisher is another component that plays a larger role in the world of affiliate marketing. The role of the publisher lies in promoting the advertisers product and service in exchange of commission. The publisher provides techniques like ad text, banners, links etc.

The third, or the main component of the entire structure of affiliate marketing lies in the consumers, since all the inputs made by both, the publisher, and the advertiser are made keeping in mind the needs and the requirements of the consumers. The consumer sees the ad and makes an action, either by clicking on the ad or by submitting a particular form. The consumer is then directed from the publishers page to the advertisers page where it finally makes a transaction.

The main technology that inspires the entire world of affiliate marketing lies in a single word 'cookies'. A cookie is a technology that works in our web browsers to save past information like passwords, id's, address, shopping cart etc. In the world of affiliate marketing, the simple work that a cookie does is to store the past information regarding the ads that have been clicked by the user along with their time and date, and can also be used to save what kind of websites or products a consumer likes the most, by storing the number of clicks about the ads. A cookie address typically comprises of three kinds of unique id's , name the PID (publisher website ID), the AID (advertisers website ID) and the UID (user's ID).
